The Huge Spanish Lottery has gone off in Spain and the Christmas lottery brought many winners across the country, the El Gordo or the fat one as it is known as drawn on Monday 22nd of December and is a big event considering it is the richest lottery in the world.
Over €2 billion in prizes were claimed altogether in the lottery offering financial security for many players across Spain. The lottery launched in 1812 is a national institution in Spain and the whole country comes to a standstill to watch the televised draw that runs all day.
The top prize went to holders of the tickets bearing the number 32365 and that number was on almost 2,000 tickets. Each of those players are now €300,000 richer.
Although the lottery is the richest in the world, the prize money is shared between many Spanish players rather than having a huge jackpot in the hope that it can improve the lives of many rather than making just one person rich.
The next big lotto draw from the Spanish Lottery will be the el nino, this is played in early January across Spain and it’s not too late to purchase tickets for that draw.
